Young the Giant were formed in Irvine, California back in 2004. Made up of Sameer Gadhia (lead vocals, auxiliary percussion), Jacob Tilley (guitars), Eric Cannata (guitars), Payam Doostzadeh (bass guitar), and François Comtois (drums).

There is an earthy, soulful rock n roll at the core of their eponymous album (2010). My personal favourite is “GOD MADE MAN”:

Also… they did a cover of R Kelly’s ‘Ignition’ in a collaboration with the A.V. Club and made it sound so much cooler than the original – particulary the guitar and bass ( N.B: Sorry for the advert.):
